Dirimart presents Silent Symphony,  by the artist duo Florian & Michael Quistrebert, focusing on experiencing light and reflection both in the gallery space and on the painting surface. With the exhibition, the duo challenges the boundaries of human perception, exploring physical matter and unstable surfaces.

The exhibition forms a dialogue between the brothers’ two latest works, namely Grand Orgue video installation and Silent Watchers paintings, as two different entities conversing beyond words. Playing on numerous visual effects that they combine with curious effects of material (impastos, swellings, projection, etc.), it enriches the experience of a kaleidoscopic effect in their practice. The exhibition stems from and rotates around their video installation titled Grand Orgue (2021), positioned at the centre of the exhibition space, functioning as the ‘mother source’. A monument-like installation derives from the video piece of a color symphony unfolded into three dimensions. This new form overwhelms the space with its luminescent presence and repetitive colorful waves, suggesting a mesmerizing fountain, diffusing its inner chants out in all dimensions. The bodiless structure of the stele seems to haze out of a spectral space like a cosmic gate beyond consciousness. The surface changes according to the light to create an unstable surface.

The dematerialization of solid architecture allows the viewer to experiment with the physical matter and realise the power of reflection and irony.

The exhibition can be visited at Dirimart Dolapdere from 9 February to 10 March 2024.
