Art Dubai’s 20th anniversary edition, originally scheduled for April, has been postponed to May following disruptions caused by regional conflicts. The fair will now take place between May 14–17, 2026, at Madinat Jumeirah, as announced via its Instagram account. The suspension of flights and disruptions in cargo transportation led to the delay, while participating galleries are reassessing their involvement.
This year’s edition will adopt a more focused and flexible format, departing from the traditional fair model. Galleries, artists, and institutions will come together through curatorial presentations, collaborations, and public programs. While remaining a physical event, Art Dubai will continue to function as a platform connecting regional and international art networks.
New Format and Sections
For its 20th edition, Bawwaba will focus on emerging artists and newly commissioned works. The Digital section will bring digital art practices into the mainstream, while Zamaniyyat will continue to explore non-Western-centered modernisms. Bawwaba Extended will present large-scale installations in public spaces, offering visitors a different kind of experience.
Participants will also benefit from financial flexibility. Galleries will not be required to pay upfront booth fees; instead, a percentage will be taken from sales, capped at the standard booth fee. Galleries unable to travel will be able to present their works through a local team, while those choosing not to participate can roll over their payments to the 2027 edition.
