Istanbul’s well-known patisserie ‘Gezi Istanbul Patisserie’ located in Taksim Square within the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul has closed its doors. The owner, Hakan Kıran, also known for being the architect of the Kabataş Seagull Project and the Haliç Metro Bridge, has placed a black banner with “1987-2023” written on it at the establishment’s entrance.
The farewell message shared on Gezi Istanbul’s Instagram account mentioned that the closure of AKM had damaged the venue.
The statement, published by the Gezi İstanbul café team, stated that legal obstacles were placed before the business, and they struggled for a while.
The patisserie, who reproached its customers, complained of not being taken care of and said, “When we saw that our audience, who was not with us in any difficulties we experienced during this whole process and we thought we existed for them, left us alone with us, we realized that it was time to leave and we ended it.”
