The theme “Wave Fabric” merges the transient traces left by Mediterranean waves with the memory embedded in human-crafted textiles. The ephemeral nature of waves meets the structured essence of fabric, symbolizing the harmonious interplay of nature’s cyclical energy and human creativity. Through this theme, the biennial explores this unique connection via art Focusing on the ecological aspects of textile production, the biennial highlights the historical role of Mediterranean water resources in weaving and silk production, reinterpreted in the context of modern environmental challenges. From dyeing fabrics to processing plant fibers, water remains central, and the event sheds light on these processes’ ecological dimensions. Waves represent impermanence and change, while fabric transforms this dynamism into a memory. The biennial reflects this harmony through contemporary art.
