The MAXXI Museum in Rome is hosting the “Memorabile.Ipermoda” exhibition, curated by fashion theorist Maria Luisa Frisa. The showcase, running until March 23, highlights the evolution of fashion, merging heritage with contemporary innovation. Sponsored by Fondazione Bulgari and Camera Nazionale della Moda, it features designs from iconic brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga, Valentino, and Dior.
Frisa’s selection emphasizes the performative relationship between clothing and the body, displaying unforgettable pieces like Virgil Abloh’s skyline puffers for Louis Vuitton, Iris Van Herpen’s futuristic gowns, and Alessandro Michele’s silk georgette dress for Valentino. Accessories include JW Anderson’s bird clutch and Bottega Veneta’s intrecciato bag styled as a ceramic vase.
Set against Zaha Hadid’s striking architecture, the exhibition’s visual narrative reflects today’s Instagram-driven fashion landscape. Italian Chamber of Fashion head Carlo Capasa praised its blend of creativity and heritage, underscoring Italian fashion’s global influence.
The exhibition also highlights collaborations, such as Fendace and Gucci-Balenciaga tie-ups, and showcases young talents like Marco Rambaldi. Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin emphasized the synergy between fashion and jewelry, celebrating timeless beauty.
Memorabile.Ipermoda invites visitors to reflect on fashion’s transformation into a multidimensional cultural and artistic expression.
