Olafur Eliason at Istanbul Modern

Istanbul Modern will showcase a comprehensive selection from Olafur Eliasson's 30-year career, one of the leading figures in contemporary art, on June 7, 2024.

Istanbul Modern is getting ready for Olafur Eliasson’s first exhibition in Turkey on June 7.

Eliasson, a prominent figure in contemporary art, known for his sculptures and large-scale installations. He uses basic materials like light, water, and air temperature to create immersive experiences for viewers.

The exhibition, titled “Olafur Eliasson: Your Unexpected Encounter,” will feature a comprehensive selection of works from the artist’s 30-year career. It will open at Istanbul Modern on June 7, 2024, offering the audience a chance to experience the Icelandic-Danish artist’s projects and works worldwide.

The extensive exhibition, sponsored by Eczacıbaşı Group and VitrA, features nearly 40 works, including new pieces. It focuses on themes such as water, light, color, perception, movement, geometry, and environment, which Eliasson has explored throughout his 30-year artistic career. The exhibition is curated by Öykü Özsoy Sağnak, Nilay Dursun, and Ümit Mesci.
