Hungarian Parliamentary Speaker László Kövér opened the exhibition Parliament on the Danube Bank at Istanbul’s Tarık Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center during an official visit to Türkiye. Running until October 31, the exhibition is part of the Hungarian-Turkish Cultural Year and is organized by the Hungarian Parliament’s public collections directorate, the Hungarian embassy, and the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Istanbul.
The exhibit showcases the architectural history, artistic treasures, and cultural significance of the Hungarian Parliament building, with the goal of attracting more tourists to Budapest. At the opening, Kövér highlighted the long-standing historical ties between Hungary and Türkiye, noting that despite past conflicts, many Hungarian national heroes—such as Ilona Zrinyi, Imre Thököly, Ferenc Rákóczi II, and Lajos Kossuth—found refuge in Türkiye. The exhibition aims to further strengthen cultural relations between the two nations by bringing a piece of Hungary’s architectural heritage to Istanbul.
