Istanbul Modern hosts education programs for adults and children

One Artist, One Workshop: Printmaking

Museum educators lead the workshop and focuses on Aliye Berger’s artistic career and printmaking techniques. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. In the workshop, they try out printmaking techniques on linoleum, wood, and metal using ready-made matrices and create pictures using their own matrices which they make from EVA. Having explored Aliye Berger’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

One Artist, One Workshop: Forms from Nature

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on F.Tülin’s artworks and on forms inspired by nature. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works “Past/Future” and “The Mystery of Alice” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. They make drawings, magnify the images of small forms, emphasize details through gestures, and reinterpret the concept of “still life”.Having explored F.Tülin’s view of nature, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

One Artist, One Workshop: The Self-Portrait

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on Selma Gürbüz’s artistic career and the concept of “self-portrait”. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works “Self-Portrait”, “Faded Costume”, and “Hand Globe” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. They design figures inspired by nature and alter forms based on the silhouettes of different plants and animals. Having explored Selma Gürbüz’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.
