Arkas Art and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will bring together museum professionals for the “Models of Participation and Inclusion in Museums” seminar and workshop program, taking place at Arkas Art Alaçatı on 30 June–1 July 2026.

Arkas Art and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will bring together museum professionals for the “Models of Participation and Inclusion in Museums” seminar and workshop program, to be held at Arkas Art Alaçatı on 30 June–1 July 2026.

Focusing on how museums can become more accessible and inclusive spaces, the two-day professional development program will be led by Emma Harjadi Herman, Head of Education and Inclusion at Stedelijk Museum, and Niek Putman, the museum’s Inclusion Officer.

Participants will explore practical approaches to strengthening museums’ social role, building deeper connections with young audiences, and fostering inclusive institutional practices. The program will feature case studies, visual thinking strategies, and hands-on group workshops.

As a continuation of the project, a participatory museum studies seminar for young people aged 16–25 will be organized in January 2027, inspired by Stedelijk Museum’s Blikopeners program. Participants will visit Arkas Art venues, reflect on contemporary art and the role of museums in society, engage in collaborative production processes, and develop ideas for youth-focused cultural programs.

The free program is open to museum educators, arts and culture professionals, artists, curators, academics, and representatives of civil society organizations. Participation is limited to 25 attendees, and the program will be conducted in English.
