“The Dance of Symbols,” an innovative exhibition merging Anatolian motifs with digital art, debuted in Belgium’s capital, Brussels. Hosted by the Embassy of Azerbaijan and Mezo Digital, the exhibition showcases Turkish motif silk scarves alongside the music and augmented reality artworks of Azerbaijani artificial intelligence artist, Shusha.
As part of the Istanbul Digital Art Festival, scheduled to take place in Istanbul from May 2-5, with Anadolu serving as the Global Communication Partner, Shusha’s digital creations were featured at the Royal Park Theater in Brussels.
The event, marked by the prominent integration of digital technologies, was inaugurated by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Vagif Sadigov, and drew a diverse array of attendees. The exhibition will remain open for visitors through Wednesday.
Nabat Garakhanova, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Mezo Digital, remarked that the exhibition encapsulates symbols of Anatolia such as earth, fire, water, wheat, and pomegranates.
Garakhanova highlighted that this year marks the 4th edition of the Istanbul Digital Art Festival, which will showcase works from 27 Turkish artists, aiming to introduce their talent to a global audience.
She also disclosed plans to extend the festival’s reach beyond Brussels, with the European premiere scheduled for Milan, Italy, followed by exhibitions in Vienna, Austria, and the United States.
Artist Bager Akbay, the mastermind behind Shusha, emphasized the democratizing influence of digital art, providing a platform for diverse perspectives. He noted that while traditional art often centered on Europe and America, digital art opens avenues for expression for artists worldwide, particularly those from regions like Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran, with rich histories of indirect expression.
