The ENCC’s (European Network of Cultural Centres) Incubator Program, which brings together cultural institutions from 37 European countries, is being held in Turkey for the first time, hosted by Sanatatak. Supported by Catch Sultanahmet Hotel, the event will take place in Istanbul from October 7–10, 2025.
Based in Belgium, ENCC connects 153 member institutions across 37 countries, promoting collaboration among cultural centers through the shared values of inclusivity, diversity, solidarity, and cultural participation.
Held annually in a different European city, the Incubator provides cultural professionals with an international platform for project development, funding strategies, and inclusive practices. Following Florence, Maribor, Lithuania, and Malta, Istanbul becomes the latest host city. This year, Turkey will also be represented by participant Nevra Arslantürk.
35 Cultural Institutions
Ayşegül Sönmez, founding editor of Sanatatak, emphasized the importance of this event: “It’s incredibly exciting to bring together representatives from 35 cultural institutions in Turkey for the first time. I hope this hosting will also strengthen and support cultural institutions in our country.”
The program extends beyond training sessions — participants will visit the 18th Istanbul Biennial, the İşbank Museum of Painting and Sculpture, Collect Gallery, attend concerts at Babylon, and explore Galata and Beyoğlu while experiencing Istanbul’s local cuisine. Additionally, the Turgay Sönmez Criticism Award, organized by Sanatatak, will be announced for the first time as part of the event.
The gathering is organized within the framework of JuST: Socio-cultural Centres for Just Sustainability Transitions, a project supported by the European Commission.
