Written, directed, and led by Murat Fıratoğlu, One of the Days Hemme Died has been selected as Turkey’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. The film, which won an award at the Venice Film Festival, tells a powerful story of class-based rage and repressed rebellion through the justice-seeking journey of a farmworker named Eyüp.

Set in Siverek, Şanlıurfa, the film follows Eyüp, a seasonal agricultural laborer who sets out one day to confront—and possibly kill—his employer Hemme, who has long withheld his rightful wages. As Eyüp embarks on this single-day journey, the film explores themes of justice, poverty, and simmering anger in an emotionally charged and visually arresting narrative.

One of the Days Hemme Died had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it received the Jury Special Prize in the “Orrizonti” section. It also won Best Film at the 31st Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and took home Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay at the 57th Turkish Film Critics Association (SİYAD) Awards.
