Banksy appeared to reveal his identity in a 2003 interview that is only now being shared by the BBC for the first time. The name Banksy said in the interview his real name is ‘Robin Gunningham.’
In 2003, street artist based in Bristol, whose true identity has always been shrouded in mystery, participated in an interview for BBC Radio 4’s PM program. Banksy, who was then working on his show called Turf War in east London, discussed with former BBC arts correspondent Nigel Wrench about the ongoing anti-authority theme of his work.
20 years later, the BBC has released the interview with Banksy in full. The interview is titled The Bansky Story and is available on BBC Sounds. During the interview, Banksy confirmed his first name.
