Filmekimi Festival readies to kick off

The program of Filmekimi, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), has been announced. The Istanbul premiere of Zeki Demirkubuz's highly anticipated new movie 'Hayat' will be held at Filmekimi.

The program of the 22nd Filmekimi organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) has been announced. The festival kicks off in Izmir.

Filmekimi will present award-winning and remarkable films to the audience at international festivals from Cannes to Venice.

The Istanbul premiere of Zeki Demirkubuz’s much-anticipated new movie ‘Hayat’ will be held at Filmekimi.

The opening film of this year’s Filmekimi is going to be “Priscilla!”, directed by Sofia Coppola. The movie is about the romantic relationship between Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu, and it stars Cailee Spaeny, who won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival. Sofia Coppola has previously adapted fairy-tale character-centred stories such as “Marie Antoinette” into successful cinematic experiences.

The final screening of the festival will feature “Poor Things”, the winner of the Golden Lion Award at the 80th Venice Film Festival. The movie follows the story of a character who is brought back to life after death, with Emma Stone playing the lead role. The film is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the acclaimed director of “The Favourite”.

The Filmekimi program features award-winning and critically acclaimed films that have garnered significant attention at festivals. These include productions such as “La Passion de Dodin Bouffant”, “Monster”, and “Evil Does Not Exist”. Additionally, the festival will showcase new films by renowned directors for the audience to enjoy.
