Zeyno Pekünlü’s first solo exhibition in the United States, Perfect Loop, will be on view at DIANA NEW YORK from April 4 to May 4, 2025. The show features the video Perfect Loop, alongside a sound installation and works on paper, exploring themes of repetition, stagnation, and collective memory.
The exhibition takes its title from Perfect Loop, a video perpetually trapped in its opening sequence. Drawing from waiting interfaces with messages like “press any key to continue” and “loading…”, it embodies a state of endless anticipation—a non-content for media players. The work critiques the emptiness of imposed narratives and the frustration of pursuing something perpetually out of reach, mirroring the inescapable cycle of digital glitches and societal crises.
Also featured is All Her Sighs, a four-channel sound installation that isolates sighs from the full discography of renowned Turkish pop singer Sezen Aksu. These fragmented expressions, deeply embedded in Turkey’s collective memory, punctuate the gallery’s silence, evoking emotions that range from longing and despair to frustration and surprise.
The series Possibilities, Significances, and Connections consists of question marks, stars, arrows, and lines extracted from the artist’s personal notes taken during political meetings over the past two decades. These abstract symbols—markers of collective thought and action—stand in contrast to the inertia present elsewhere in the exhibition, hinting at the tension between movement and standstill.
Together, these works examine cycles of expectation and inaction, offering a poignant reflection on personal and political stagnation in the digital and social landscape.
“Perfect Loop” examines the vicious cycles encountered in everyday life through various methods while pointing to the possibilities of collective efforts. The exhibition can be visited between April 4 and May 4, 2025, from Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 – 6:00 pm. Opening reception will take place on April 4, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
