Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM), with the support of Akbank, will host a major exhibition dedicated to Yoko Ono — one of the most influential figures in contemporary art — opening 25 June 2026.

Developed in collaboration with MUSAC in León, Spain, Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure comes to Istanbul following its presentation there. Bringing together works across poetry, drawing, photography, video, sculpture, and installation, the exhibition focuses in particular on the artist’s participatory approach, which places audience engagement at its core.

Ono’s works, built around mental and physical participation, move the viewer from passive spectator to active participant in the process. The exhibition includes landmark early pieces such as Grapefruit, Cut Piece, Sky Ladders, and Mend Piece, alongside large-scale installations and participatory works produced from the 1990s onwards.

Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure at SSM stands as one of the two most comprehensive exhibitions to engage with the artist’s practice in recent years, alongside Music of the Mind, which has been shown at institutions including Tate Modern, Gropius Bau, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Uniting MUSAC and SSM within the same production process, the exhibition reflects the museum’s ongoing commitment to internationally collaborative programming. Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure will be on view at Sakıp Sabancı Museum for six months from 25 June 2026, with the support of Akbank.
