Arter’s new group exhibition Work in Progress brings together a selection of works drawn from more than three hundred artworks that the institution has supported over the past fifteen years—some of which have been incorporated into the collection—alongside new commissions produced specifically for the exhibition.
Organized with the support of Koç Holding for the Koç Group’s centenary, the exhibition features 39 works by 27 artists in its first section. In the second phase of the exhibition, opening in October 2026, many works from the first section will be replaced by others, and new pieces created in this context will also be included. Curated by Emre Baykal, Work in Progress highlights Arter’s long-standing commitment to supporting creative processes through its production practices. Extending across Arter’s entrance and lower-ground-floor (-1) galleries, as well as various publicly accessible spaces in the building, Work in Progress will be available free of charge starting April 1, 2026.
Work in Progress features a selection of over three hundred works created with Arter’s support as part of its exhibitions program—launched in 2010 at its former building on Istiklâl Street and continuing at Dolapdere since September 2019—alongside new pieces created specifically for this occasion. The exhibition’s first chapter, which includes 39 works by 27 artists—including pieces from the Arter Collection—reflects on fifteen years of the institution’s dedication to fostering creativity, engaging artistic production as a collaborative process, and bringing together artists from diverse disciplines, cultural practitioners, and audiences to learn, produce, and share collectively. Founded as a “space for art,” Arter has prioritized supporting artistic production as a fundamental part of its mission since its inception. Recognizing the equal importance of all media and practices, the institution has facilitated projects and works through a support model tailored in various scales to artists’ creative processes, presenting the resulting works in both solo and group exhibitions. Work in Progress presents a selection from this extensive body of work—drawn from both recent and earlier exhibitions—recontextualizing them within Arter’s institutional history and a broader network where they inspire new dialogues, connections, and shared trajectories.
