Banksy’s latest street art has come to light. The piece, titled “I want to be what you see in me,” carries the marks of Banksy’s signature mysterious and multi-layered style, expressed both through its visual illusion and poetic message.

Banksy’s latest street art piece has come to light; however, this time, the location of the artwork is shrouded in a great mystery. In an image shared on the artist’s Instagram account, there is a stencil of a lighthouse painted on a pale beige wall. Right next to the artwork, the following sentence stands out: “I want to be the way you see me.”

Banksy’s signature illusionary touch is once again on display. By casting the shadow of a nearby curb on the wall, it creates the impression that the lighthouse is actually the silhouette of an ordinary street object. However, unlike a real lighthouse, this artwork doesn’t reveal its exact location. In a second photo, two people are seen walking their dogs, but there are no clear clues about the street or city. On social media, “geoguessing” enthusiasts have suggested that this mural might be in Marseille, in southern France. However, nothing is certain yet.
In another circulating image, a scooter rider is seen passing in front of the wall, and nearby, a graffiti tag reading “Yaze” stands out. This signature belongs to a street artist known in Canada as “Marco The Polo,” who is known to have described Banksy as an inspiration on Instagram.

Throughout his career, Banksy has kept his true identity hidden, and his works are considered “official” only when shared through his Instagram account. While his previous works often focused on political themes such as migration, the war in Ukraine, and homelessness, some of his pieces carry more ambiguous meanings.
His new work, “I want to be what you see in me,” carries the traces of Banksy’s once again mysterious and multilayered storytelling, both through its visual illusion and poetic expression. This lighthouse, whose location remains unknown, perhaps shines its light more inward than outward.

As debates continue over Banksy’s latest work, a development that fuels curiosity about the artist’s identity has recently resurfaced. Years ago, when Banksy was not yet globally famous, the BBC published some old photos showing him working with children at a youth club in Bristol, England, in the late 1990s.
Banksy’s face is not clearly visible in these new images either, but this early period spent with children offers clues not only about the artist’s work but also about his personality. These photos once again demonstrate that Banksy has left a mark not only on walls but also in people’s memories, even years later.
