Tilda Swinton: A Great Privilege for Me

With this exhibition, Eye Filmmuseum places the actor’s role in the creative process at center stage. Contrary to the often passive perception of actors merely executing a director’s vision, Swinton emerges here as an active creator and co-author. The exhibition reveals how she transforms friendships and artistic bonds into powerful sources of inspiration.

Speaking about the significance of the exhibition and her creative partnerships, Tilda Swinton says:

“Eye offered me the opportunity to reflect on over 40 years of artistic practice and to revisit the creative friendships that have nourished me. In this exhibition, we share the artistic relationships that have fed me the most. It’s like following breadcrumbs through a forest, adding new leaves to old trees. Being invited into such a world of friendship and art is a great privilege for me.”

Tilda Swinton – Ongoing not only showcases the artistic legacy of a remarkable performer, but also illustrates how friendship and long-standing collaborations can shape and transform an artist’s creative world. The exhibition will be accompanied by film screenings and talks, offering visitors a deeper look into Swinton’s artistic vision.
