“The Possibility of Exceptions” at EArt Gallery

On view at EArt Gallery through 18 January 2026, The Possibility of Exceptions draws inspiration from Alfred Jarry’s Pataphysics to foreground personal utopias, alternative realities, and the conceptual spaces opened up by exceptions.

Alfred Jarry’s Pataphysics—defined by the author as “the science of imaginary solutions”—reveals the creative potential of exceptions, alternative scenarios, and mental escape routes within the practices of contemporary artists. Curated by Dilara Güven, The Possibility of Exceptions delves into the dreamlike geographies and promised sanctuaries imagined by the participating artists.

Everyday Realities

Rather than observing the absurdity inherent in everyday reality from a purely critical distance, the exhibition positions this terrain as a site for new modes of construction. This approach frames artistic production not as a passive response to the crisis-laden world of today, but as an active intellectual laboratory. The Possibility of Exceptions offers a temporary departure from the constraints of reality, inviting viewers to encounter the outward expressions of both individual and collective imagination.

In Pursuit of Possibilities

Featuring works by Burcu Perçin, Cem Öztürk, Ceren Su Çelik, Dilara Altınkepçe Arslan, Kübra Su Yıldırım, Mehmet Öğüt, Mehmet Sinan Yücel, Pınar Kurt, Tuba Geçgel, and Tuğçe Arıöz, the selection traces imagined, constructed, and re-envisioned worlds. Each piece functions as a threshold, expanding the possible worlds that emerge from the exceptional.

Presenting an atmosphere in which established norms are stretched, and boundaries are reopened for debate, The Possibility of Exceptions can be visited at EArt Gallery Kağıthane until 18 January 2026.
