Feminist artist Suzanne Lacy, one of the pioneers of community-focused performance art, will be at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum on September 12 with her exhibition “Birlikte/Together.” The Sakıp Sabancı Museum at Sabancı University is preparing to host American artist and academic Suzanne Lacy. Lacy, who focuses on women’s social experiences and stands out on the international art scene with her large-scale participatory performances, will present her exhibition “Birlikte/Together” to the public on September 12, with the support of the Sabancı Foundation. The exhibition reflects an artistic approach that supports social development with the goal of a more equal and sustainable future.

First Comprehensive Exhibition in Turkey

Suzanne Lacy, one of the pioneers of feminist art with her women- and society-focused work since the 1970s, is among the founders of “new public art” with her production based on social participation and volunteerism. Her exhibition at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum will bring together her video installations and collective projects for the first time in Turkey in a comprehensive manner. Suzanne Lacy’s works bring artists, academics, local governments, and activists together on a powerful platform for discussion on gender, making visible women’s experiences of identity, freedom, violence, employment, and aging. Her long-term projects will meet the audience in the museum through video installations.
