Mehveş Beyidoğlu’s solo exhibition Permeable has opened at Art Rooms Gallery in Kyrenia. On view until September 5, the show brings together the Cypriot artist’s recent works, created using rust, paint, body imprints, and stains drawn from everyday life—tracing the marks of time and accumulated experience.

From Mehveş Beyidoğlu’s “Permeable” exhibition.

Permeable begins with the idea that surfaces can be not only physically, but also emotionally, permeable. Each stain turns into a story; each trace evokes a feeling, inviting the viewer into a contemplative space of contact, memory, and emotional residue.

In this exhibition, Beyidoğlu blurs the line between randomness and deliberate intervention. Scars, coffee stains, or dried paint folds reveal the texture of an invisible past and the raw, sincere beauty of lived experience.

A graduate of ARUCAD (Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design), Beyidoğlu shared the following about the exhibition:

“These works were created over the past two years and developed around the recurring theme of stains, which I often explore in my studio. There is a general aversion to stains in society, but I find them beautiful. The marks on our bodies, the smudges here and there—they are all part of being natural. People try to get rid of them, but that’s artificial. In striving to present only the ‘perfect,’ we lose authenticity. In this exhibition, I tried to express the beauty of being natural through stains. The idea of both physical and emotional permeability is important to me as well. People are not transparent enough. Being direct and expressing oneself is incredibly valuable. I wanted this exhibition to reflect all of that.”

Permeable can be visited at Art Rooms Gallery in Kyrenia until September 5, offering a bridge between the historic texture of the city and contemporary art.
