Performance art legend Marina Abramović is bringing her unique creative journey to Miami Art Week with a compelling new exhibition, A Tribute to the Nomadic Spirit. Hosted at the Faena Art Project Room in collaboration with Massimo Dutti, the show offers an intimate look at the artist’s nomadic lifestyle, featuring decades of drawings, poetry, photographs, and reflections. This exhibition, coinciding with the release of her new coffee table book, Nomadic Journey and Spirit of Places, allows audiences a rare glimpse into the inner workings of her creative process.

As one of the pioneers of performance art, Abramović’s body of work has long explored themes of endurance, human connection, and the boundaries of art itself. The exhibition showcases pieces such as spontaneous doodles on hotel stationery and reflections from her global travels, from Serbia to the United States, offering insight into the deeply personal, reflective nature of her art. Her belief in the importance of movement and transformation is reflected in her statement, “My home was everywhere I went because my home was my own body.”

In Nomadic Journey and Spirit of Places, Abramović combines poetry, sketches, and personal observations to chronicle not just her artistic evolution but also the profound impact of her travels. The book, which also explores her self-curated works, will be available for purchase at select Massimo Dutti stores.

“A Tribute to the Nomadic Spirit: An Artistic Intervention by Marina Abramović” is on view from December 3–8, 2024, at the Faena Art Project Room, 3420 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach.
