Kevser Güler Appointed as the New Director of the Istanbul Biennial

Curator and researcher Kevser Güler will take over the directorship of the Istanbul Biennial as of January 15, 2024.

Curator and researcher Kevser Güler will take over the directorship of the Istanbul Biennial as of January 15, 2024. Istanbul Biennial, is organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) since 1987.

The 18th Istanbul Biennial, curated by Iwona Blazwick will be held between 14 September and 17 November 2024, with the support of many institutions, organizations, international funders, and cultural institutions. The main sponsor of the event is Koç Holding. The preview of the biennial will be held on 10-13 September 2024 for members of the press and on 12-13 September 2024 for art professionals.

About Kevser Güler

Kevser Güler’s researches focus on potentialities and the conditions of being of artworks and exhibitions.

Güler conducted researches on Arter’s collection between 2014 and 2019, and worked for the Istanbul Biennial between 2007 and 2014. She was the Director of Exhibitions at Yapı Kredi Culture and Arts between 2020-2021.

Canan Tolon, Tersane, İstanbul (2022); This Place, YKCA, İstanbul (2021-2022); Coulisse: Hagop Ayvaz, A Chronicler of Theater, YKCA, İstanbul (2020-2021); Meydan, Deniz Gül, YKCA, Istanbul (2020); Milat, Lale Müldür, YKCA, Istanbul (2020); On Celestial Bodies, Arter, Istanbul (2020-2021). Güler worked as consultant, educator and jury member of numerous arts programmes including TAPA, Tekirdağ; Queer Art Residency, Ankara; Lucy Art Residency, Kavala; İstanbul Bienali ÇAP, İstanbul; Mişar Art, Mardin.
