On September 20, Christie’s auction house officially opened its new Asia Pacific headquarters in The Henderson, a newly developed office building in Hong Kong’s Central district. This is Christie’s third major auction house to expand its footprint in the city, following Phillips and Sotheby’s, the latter having relocated to the Landmark Chater building in July.

Spanning the sixth to ninth floors of the glass skyscraper designed by London-based Zaha Hadid Architects, Christie’s new 4,645-square-meter venue underscores the auction house’s commitment to bolstering its presence in the region. The luxurious space includes a salesroom, galleries, a dedicated client hub, offices, and a pillar-free layout, enabling Christie’s to host year-round sales and exhibitions. Additionally, an elevator provides direct access to The Henderson’s all-glass rooftop ballroom, where Christie’s plans to hold exhibitions and special events.

Compared to its previous Hong Kong office in Alexandra House, where visitors had to obtain a temporary pass to reach the 22nd floor, the new headquarters offers greater accessibility. However, this accessibility does not extend to price points—Christie’s Asia president Francis Belin emphasized the auction house’s dedication to presenting “the best of the best.” In keeping with this exclusivity, Christie’s will host its first sales of 20th and 21st Century Art from September 26 to 27, featuring works by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Chinese-French painter Zao Wou-Ki.
