Organized by the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, the Bodrum Ballet Festival, Türkiye’s premier and sole ballet festival, is celebrating its 21st edition.
On August 11 and 12, the Mersin State Opera and Ballet will perform “The Great Gatsby,” showcasing music, dance, sets, and costumes that evoke the era’s spirit.
“Güldestan,” a renowned music and dance production from Türkiye that has been performed globally for 25 years, will be presented by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, featuring music by Mercan Dede and direction and choreography by Beyhan Murphy.
On August 17 and 18, the Basileu França Group will take the stage at Bodrum Castle. Their performance, “Ballet Latino Tango,” includes three pieces titled “Capricho,” “Ginga,” and “A Fuego Lento,” with choreography by Binho Pacheco and Ricardo Amarante, and Simone Malta as the Artistic Director.
The festival will conclude with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet’s rendition of “Zorba the Greek” on August 21-22. This ballet, inspired by the famous Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis’ work, features choreography and libretto by Lorca Massine.
