As Art Basel’s 2024 edition is back with a strong program this year, the parallel fairs and events are attracting more attention from the art crowd. Volta Art Fair, Liste Art Fair, the newly established Basel Social Club, Photo Basel, and Design Miami/Basel are the satellite fairs to visit.

Volta Basel

Discover emerging artists in the contemporary market and connect with new stories from around the world with VOLTA Basel. Since 2005, VOLTA Basel has been a driving force, helping new and ambitious galleries establish themselves in one of the international art market capitals. Returning to the intimate setting of Klybeck 610, the fair’s 19th edition marks the inaugural event under Artistic Director Lee Cavaliere. In 2024, experience the most global event yet, showcasing over 45 galleries from 24 countries.

Liste Art Fair

This year Liste Art Fair showcases 91 galleries from 35 countries around the globe. There will be 75 solo and 16 group presentations exhibited alongside 5 joint booths, resulting in more than 100 differing cultural voices being amplified to an international audience during the fair. Liste is unique in that it is the only art fair where two-thirds of the galleries are showing a single artist exhibition, resulting in the curating of over 70 solo exhibitions, cementing its position as a pioneering champion of contemporary artists and the art sector. Opened in 1996, the fair is also celebrating its 28th year.

Basel Social Club

Basel Social Club returns June 9–16, 2024, for its third edition in a new location and new format: a week-long event in the open air on farmland fields behind the residential neighborhood of Bruderholz, extending across approximately 50 hectares of land into Baselland – from the city border to the edge of the forest. The 2024 edition brings together an exhibition by local and international artists, a program of performances and many culinary offerings. Artistic interventions are positioned throughout the fields, between the barns, and amongst the trees, responding to this year’s ecological emphasis. Landscape, agriculture, and farm animals are core elements of this year’s edition, with our host farmers as active participants. This year BS Club welcomes OG Gallery from Türkiye. The gallery is presenting Levent Ozruh artworks.

Photo Basel

This year Photo Basel welcomes 41 galleries from 15 countries to its ninth edition. “Over 450 photographic works by 150 artists are currently on display. Since 2016, Photo Basel has been located near Art Basel to connect individuals in the photography scene and contribute to the dialogue, making art photography more accessible. This year the fair is back with a diverse supporting program alongside 41 international galleries representing 15 countries for this year’s 9th edition.”

Refik Anadol at Art Basel

This year, Art Basel also includes a new digital work by Refik Anadol. Anadol addresses the human relationship with travel at the intersection of art, science, and data with the digital artwork titled Inner Portrait, prepared in collaboration with Turkish Airlines and to be published for the first time at Art Basel. Inner Portrait focuses on the stories of four individuals who have never traveled abroad and tries to draw attention to the transformative power of travel.
