The 77th Emmy Awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Among the standout productions of the night were The Studio, Adolescence, and Hacks. The night featured not only the best television productions, but also prominent political messages. Both on the red carpet and in their speeches, artists raised their voices against Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
Apple TV+’s debut season of The Studio made Emmy history this year by winning a total of 13 awards. The series, which is the most awarded comedy series of all time, surpassed The Bear’s record of 10 awards set in 2023.
Co-creator and lead actor Seth Rogen tied with Moira Demos, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and Dan Levy as the individuals who won the most Emmys in one night. Rogen won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and also won an award for the episode The Oner, which he directed with Evan Goldberg.
The show’s team also won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, shared with Seth, Evan, Frida Perez, Peter Huyck, and Alex Gregory. The studio also won awards in categories including Guest Actor, casting, cinematography, music, sound editing, and mix at last week’s Creative Arts ceremony for Bryan Cranston.
Netflix’s teen drama Adolescence was one of the most talked-about productions at this year’s Emmy Awards. The series won a total of eight awards, receiving high praise from both critics and jury members. In addition to the ceremony held on Sunday, Adolescence also won awards at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys, particularly standing out in the acting and production categories.
Lead actors Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty were recognized for their performances, while Owen Cooper won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the youngest male actor ever to win in this category. In his speech on stage, Cooper emphasized that when he started drama classes a few years ago, he never imagined he would be in America, but that determination and perseverance made it possible to step outside his comfort zone:
“A few years ago, when I started taking drama classes, I never even thought about being in America; coming here never crossed my mind. But tonight shows that if you listen, focus, and step outside your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. Three years ago, I was nothing; now I’m here.”
