The 32nd Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), will bring together dozens of musicians with audiences at various venues across Istanbul between July 1 and 17.
Venues hosting the festival this year include the French Embassy, the Italian Consulate Garden, The Marmara Esma Sultan Mansion, Gün Bahçesi – Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus, Sultan Park – Swissôtel The Bosphorus, and Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theater.
Masters and Young Musicians Together
Among the highlights of this year’s festival are 7-time Grammy Award-winning Afro-Cuban jazz artist Chucho Valdés, who will perform at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater; Hermanos Gutiérrez, pioneers of Latin guitar; Max Richter, who blends contemporary classical music with jazz; Grégory Privat, a pianist and vocalist making waves in the jazz world; Jazzmeia Horn, known for her innovative compositions and vocals, and Grammy Award-winning artist Meshell Ndegeocello. Additionally, Chiara Civello, Rogê, Kerem Görsev Quintet, Tolga Bilgin, Meltem Ege & Friends, and Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol will also take the stage. The young ensemble Hakan Başar Trio will also host Michelangelo Scandroglio on their stage.
The 32nd Istanbul Jazz Festival’s +1 Night Out will take place over two days and will host Ghost Note, MY BABY, Cari Cari, Çağıl Kaya, Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol, Berke Can Özcan and Jonah Parzen-Johnson, Seda Erciyes, Selût, Tuğçe Şenoğul, Istanbul West Side Collective, Şenkop, Zeynep Oktar, Şu Güzel İnsanlar, and Hav Hav! at Kadıköy Cinema and Moda Stage.
Jazz listeners will also have the opportunity to listen to Brassist, Kaan Arslan Co, and Kamucan Yalçın and Friends on the Jazz Boat. The festival’s free event, Jazz in the Parks concerts, will also take place this year.
Opening Concert by Chucho Valdés Royal Quartet
Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater will host the opening concert of the festival on July 1, featuring a performance by the Chucho Valdés Royal Quartet. Seven-time Grammy Award-winning Cuban pianist, composer, and arranger Chucho Valdés is one of the most influential figures in Afro-Cuban jazz with his innovative style.
