The Sakıp Sabancı Museum is offering a four-week seminar series titled Feminist Art Workshop, led by Associate Professor Seda Yavuz, presenting a new perspective on art history through the lens of gender studies this November.

Under the guidance of Doç. Dr. Seda Yavuz, the program aims to provide an in-depth discussion platform bridging art history and gender studies.

Identity, Body, Labor, and Domestic Production
The seminar begins by examining the roles women artists have held throughout history, from antiquity to the 19th century, focusing on their struggles for acceptance in academies and exhibition spaces during the rise of women’s movements. It then explores early 20th-century avant-garde contributions by women artists, transformations in the perception of the body, and their pioneering influence on performance art.

The program continues with an analysis of feminist art from the 1970s to the 2000s, addressing how it evolved around concepts such as identity, body, labor, domestic production, collective experience, and solidarity. This comprehensive approach seeks to highlight both the political and aesthetic dimensions of feminist art, offering participants the chance to revisit overlooked debates within art history.

Feminist Art Workshop will take place at the Ahşap Köşk every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., between November 5 and 26, 2025. Tickets—available with a 50% discount for students—can be purchased through the Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s website.
