Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Gallery Selvin has brought together a special publication titled “50 Artists and 50 Artist Studios of Istanbul” with art lovers. The book, which is the product of the long-term and meticulous work of the gallery’s founder Selvin Gafuroğlu, sheds light on the workshops and production processes of 50 artists in Istanbul, each of whom is recognized in their own field and has achieved international success.
Describing the book, published in Turkish and English, as an artistic document and a memory that introduces Istanbul to the world, Selvin Gafuroğlu describes her project, which she started in 2009 with great passion and desire, as follows:
“As Gallery Selvin, we have been organizing a series of events for more than 40 years to contribute to the development of contemporary art. This book is an important step towards fulfilling this mission. We initiated this project to raise awareness in the art scene and to pass on our cultural heritage to future generations.
The book “50 Artists and 50 Workshops in Istanbul” is on its way to becoming an important resource for Turkey, Istanbul and art lovers around the world. This is a big step for the development of Turkish plastic arts and will bring Turkish artists closer to the global art scene.”

Engin Kafadar is responsible for the design of the book “50 Artists and 50 Artist Studios of Istanbul”. Art historian, art critic, writer and academician Prof. Dr. Kaya Özsezgin, who passed away in 2016, also contributes to the book with his texts.
