To mark its 25th anniversary, Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery presents two special exhibitions: Echo and Resonance.
Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery Celebrates 25 Years with Echo and Resonance
A pioneering institution in Turkey’s contemporary art scene, Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery marks its 25th anniversary with two exhibitions—Echo and Resonance—highlighting the dialogue between past and future artistic production.
While Echo takes place at the gallery’s main venue, Resonance is hosted at the IDEALIST Interior Architecture Association. Spanning across these two locations, the exhibitions feature over 150 works by 50 artists, ranging from Burhan Doğançay (b. 1929) to Ozan Dursun (b. 1994), offering a multi-generational perspective on contemporary art.
Artistic and Temporal Traces
Bringing together 33 artists from different generations, Echo—one of Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery’s 25th-anniversary exhibitions—offers a curated selection from Turkey’s contemporary art scene. Spanning from Burhan Doğançay (b. 1929) to Ozan Dursun (b. 1994), the exhibition highlights the dialogue between artworks, art history, and contemporary cultural production.

“Resonance”: Bridging Past and Present in Art

Inspired by Rosalind Krauss’ idea that art forms a network ensuring continuity between historical and contemporary practices, the exhibition invites viewers to explore the evolutionary journey of art.

The Impact of Art Stretching into the Future
While Echo at Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery emphasizes the timeless influence of art through large-scale works, Resonance at the IDEALIST Interior Architecture Association focuses on the relationships between artists’ creations and how these works might be reinterpreted in future contexts. In alignment with Jacques Rancière’s idea that art is an activity that constructs its own time, these exhibitions demonstrate that art is not merely an echo of the past, but also a practice that shapes the map of the future.
Art historian, critic, and curator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fırat Arapoğlu contributes to the exhibitions by strengthening their theoretical framework with his academic perspective. With his deep knowledge of art history and critical viewpoint, Arapoğlu enhances the exhibitions’ scholarly depth. Both Echo and Resonance engage with the continuity and transformation of art history, with insightful commentary from Dilek Bektaşoğlu Sanlı and Arapoğlu in the exhibition texts.
Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery Turns 25
Reflecting on its 25-year journey, Çağla Cabaoğlu emphasizes that the gallery has not only served as an art space but also as a platform fostering dialogue between artists, art enthusiasts, and academics. She shares her thoughts on the anniversary:
“As Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery, we have witnessed the development of contemporary art for a quarter of a century and continue to open new horizons with artists. Over these 25 years, I’ve believed that art is not merely a display practice but rather a vision of dialogue, transformation, and a future-oriented approach. Echo and Resonance are reflections of this continuity and two key milestones that emphasize the timeless impact of art. I’m excited to connect the bridges art has built with the past to today’s creative energy and invite viewers on this journey.”
