Dirimart Pera unveils Conversations with Others, Jan Zöller’s first solo exhibition in Istanbul, curated by Martin Engler. The showcase highlights Zöller’s boundary-defying approach to painting, where abstraction meets figuration in a delicate interplay of form and color.
The exhibition spans a range of works, from airy landscapes like Aimlessly Wandering, with its playful use of motifs and textures, to the intense, shadowed tones of Das Leben, where bird-like figures struggle within cascading layers of paint. Themes of dialogue and interconnectedness permeate Zöller’s pieces, exemplified by surreal characters—half-human, half-bird—whose fragmented voices evoke chaotic symphonies of conversation.
Zöller also integrates interactive elements, including bespoke chairs, inviting visitors to immerse themselves physically and mentally in his visual narratives. Running from November 27 to December 29, 2024, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a realm of discovery and layered meaning.
