Media artist Refik Anadol, has brought his captivating digital works, crafted with the aid of artificial intelligence, to London’s Serpentine North exhibition space.
Titled “Echoes of the Earth: Living Archive,” the exhibition marks Anadol’s inaugural major solo showcase in the U.K., promising viewers an immersive journey into the fusion of technology and natural beauty.
Anadol’s exhibition is a testament to years of exploration in the realm of visual data, particularly focusing on the intricate ecosystems of coral reefs and rainforests. Through his innovative employment of AI, Anadol invites spectators to transcend conventional boundaries and delve into virtual environments teeming with life.
At the heart of the exhibition lies “Living Archive: Nature,” a bespoke creation premiering exclusively in the U.K. at Serpentine North. This groundbreaking installation beckons visitors to immerse themselves in digitally-rendered spaces inspired by the biodiversity of over 16 rainforest locales worldwide. Utilizing advanced technologies such as LiDAR and photogrammetry, alongside capturing ambisonic audio, Anadol crafts a sensorial experience that blurs the lines between reality and the virtual realm.
Additionally, Anadol presents “Artificial Realities: Coral,” a mesmerizing amalgamation of sound and video, shedding light on the indispensable role played by coral reefs within our planet’s oceanic ecosystems.
