Turkey Awaits for 10 Artifacts of Anatolian Origin

Terracotta artifacts, which were smuggled from Türkiye, seized by Italian police in Florence.

The Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism announced that Türkiye will repatriate ten historical artifacts from Italy which had been smuggled out of the country.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated on X, “We continue to bring back the artifacts smuggled from our country to the lands where they belong.” He reported that the Italian Cultural Police in Florence had seized ten terracotta artifacts, illegally removed them from Türkiye, and subsequently delivered them to the Turkish Ambassador in Rome, Omer Gucuk, along with officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Ersoy thanked the Italian authorities for their “close cooperation” and commended Türkiye’s team for their “meticulous follow-up” in the retrieval process.
