Turkey’s influential photographer Manuel Çıtak passes away

Manuel Çıtak (61), one of Turkey's leading photographers, died yesterday as a result of a heart attack.

Turkey’s prominent photography artist  Manuel Çıtak passed away due to a heart attack.

A funeral ceremony will be held for Çıtak tomorrow at 14.00 at Feriköy Surp Vartanants Church. Çıtak, who was married to writer Şebnem İşigüzel, had two children.

Born in Malatya in 1962, Manuel Çıtak completed his education at Istanbul Saint Michel High School and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Graphic Department. He mainly worked on people and portraits in the photo shoots he started during his travels to Turkey during his university years. Çıtak made documentary photography works such as Madenciler in 1994 and Kilyos panoramas in 1996. Çıtak’s works were presented to art lovers in his first personal exhibition, “Islomania”.
