Istanbul Modern Hosts Children Workshops

Children take part in programs that are designed for specific age groups and focus on exhibitions held at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, works of art featured in the exhibitions, and the careers of artists whose works are exhibited. Participants thus gain experience in different fields of art ranging from painting, sculpture, and video to performance, design, and architecture.

One Artist, One Workshop: Abstraction

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on Adnan Çoker’s artistic career and the technique of abstraction. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and his productions. They examine the artist’s work “Retrospective II” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow his example. Based on architectural elements, they make geometric shapes and complete their compositions by coloring a two-dimensional plane on which they create the perception of depth. Having explored Adnan Çoker’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.
